How do botanicals impact our palette? In this workshop, led by Preserved and August Bitters, we discover the effects these elements have on our sensory and digestive system. Together with Seedlip Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirits, shake up your palate by making botanical non-alcoholic cocktails and a rainbow of aromatic bitters. Plus you’ll enjoy tantalizing bites all set within the beautiful garden patio at Julie’s Temescal. You'll leave with your own botanical bitters concoction and inspiration for your home cocktail bar.

A portion of proceeds benefits ROC the Bay and their Restore Oakland initiative. Sponsored by Seedlip.

About August Bitters

Kate August has been involved with the Bay Area food scene since the early 2000s. Her appreciation for the bountiful food and herbal plants of Northern California combined with the love of taste and flavor shaped her experiences. This passion was expressed through her cocktail program at Pizzaiolo, tending bar at Bull Valley Roadhouse and her latest project, August Bitters. Kate is educated in Western herbalism and currently teaches herbal bitters, shrubs and syrups workshops at Preserved in Oakland, discussing the intersection of medicinal plants and cocktail culture. She is also an active herbalist and teacher at the California School of Herbal Medicine in Sonoma County.

Julie’s Temescal

For the past 30 years, Julie Baron has been focused on inspiring and nurturing those in her community through farm, food, & creativity. Her pathway into the world of tea and coffee began with her love of herbs. After spending 10 years in wholesale coffee and tea, Julie yearned to serve her customers face to face and create a soothing space for the community to restore, connect and learn. From a love of all things plant-made, Julie’s Coffee & Tea Garden in Alameda was born Jan 1st 2005. In March 2017 Julie’s Oakland opened its doors with an expanded food menu to further explore Julie's growing passion of food as medicine.

Must be 21 and over to participate.
